Carum's Nightmare

Carum’s Nightmare

He had the worst nightmare possible.  It consisted of him meeting Kindle’s sister the Siren named Ryanne.  Being drugged, humiliating, raping and then murdering Kindle…his only love.

His head hurt like he had way too much to drink.  A woman with black hair and black eyes entered his bed chamber with a cup of medicinal tea.  He took it before he realized that the events that took place last night was not dream.  Those events actually took place.

He killed his beloved Kindle last night?  He started to cry.

“She is not dead yet.”  Said the woman with black hair and black eyes.

                “Ryanne, right?”  He asked her.

Ryanne smiled.  He could not remember.  “Of course my love.  You don’t remember anything from last night do you?”

Carum became angry at Ryanne.  “Do not EVER call me your love!  There is only one love for me and it is not you!”  Then he thought about what she said to him.  “Not dead yet?  Does that mean Kindle lives?”

Ryanne anticipated all of this, which is why she put some of the leftover potion in his medicinal tea.  As his head began to spin again, the memory of last night came back with a vengeance.

Last night, Carum went to see Kindle.  He had to get the stone.

At first everything was just like the night before.  He went to her window and called her name until she came out.  She was wearing her white night dress that made her look more beautiful than the Priestess Alia.

They made their way down to the bank of the Elourna where he set out to make love to her again but something was clouding his judgment.   His mind went immediately to yesterday when she bowed to Bytor.

Carum stopped at the edge of the Elourna and turned on Kindle.

“Bow to me!”  He ordered Kindle

She stopped in her tracks and gingerly stepped toward him with a nervous smile.

“That I very funny Sir Carum.  I believe we are beyond the bowing stage in our relationship” She retorted not noticing the menacing look on Carum’s face until it was too late.  With one hand on her right shoulder, he forced her to her knees.

“I said bow to me, your future King!” He demanded of her again.

Kindle was frightened at this point and Carum was glad she was.

“No.” She half whispered to him.

Suddenly, Carum slapped Kindle across the face knocking her onto the ground.  She had no time to address her wound because he was too fast and attacked her again by hitting her with a closed fist right across her temple.

“Where is the stone?” He screamed at her as he continued his barrage of fists on her head.

Somewhere at some point, Kindle passed out from the pain.

Carum took this moment to get what he wanted.  He stripped Kindle of her nightdress by ripping it down the middle.  Then rid himself of his trousers.  Between consciousness, Kindle could tell exactly what he meant to do…to take her without permission.  She was to injured to try to stop him.

She came fully awake with pressure and pain between her thighs and Carum on top of her pushing deeper inside of her.  The look on his face was a far off glazed look.

When he caught her staring at him, ready to use her magic on him he reached his hands around her throat and squeezed.  She tried to fight him off but to no avail.  He continued to strangle her until she lost consciousness and he was sure she was dead.  He rolled off of her, then searched her for the burlap sack that he was sure the stone was in.

It wasn’t there!  Where was it?  He thought about Ryanne and how unhappy she was going to be.  He left with nothing but the assurance of Kindle’s death.

That was when he heard the sound of many horses hoofs coming fast his way so he ran as fast as he could back to Ryanne’s camp.

When he reached Ryanne’s camp he was taken with the way she looked.

She was seated on her bed with a red sheath dress on.  Her long black hair hung over her shoulders.  Her black eyes burned holes through his soul.  He went to her on his knees before her.  She let him lay his head in her lap and stroked his hair as she read his mind.  Then she spoke.

“She did not die and did not have the stone on her.  The Myriad must have it.  Mother will come for Kindle and heal her.  Don’t worry there will be other times that Kindle will meet her death.  Besides,  Bytor has come for her.”

“Bytor came for Kindle?”  This really made him angry and jealous.

“Yes, Carum.  It seems that your darling Kindle and Bytor are falling in love with each other.  Does this upset you?”

“Of course it does.  She is the love of my life and I hurt her deeply and physically.  And all because of you!”

“Well, I have something that will make you feel better about all of this.  Once we have the stone, then we will be the most powerful couple in all of the three worlds.”  Ryanne assured Carum who was not having any of it.

“What are you suggesting?”  He asked.

“Since your beloved Kindle is now falling for your best friend, I believe it is time to get married and take the Kingdom from your father.  Just think, you becoming King of Windspear”

Carum pondered on this for a moment before his anger against Kindle and Bytor overcame him and answered in haste.

“Ok.  Let us do this.”  Was all he said. “But ousting Father will not be an easy task.”

Ryanne smiled and simply said “Leave that to me.  Now sleep, my love.  Tomorrow we have a lot of planning to do”

Carum lay down on Ryanne’s bed with Ryanne next to him.  For the first time since he made love to Kindle he knew he was growing to love Ryanne.  They made love in Ryanne’s bed and for a time Carum forgot about Kindle.  Ryanne had all the right moves to keep his interest in her going.
After their lovemaking, they fell fast asleep.  They had a big day planned for tomorrow
